Hylte Equestrian Associaton
Overview
Our designteam was assigned to work on a project for the Hylte Riding Association, a small riding club located in a rural area. Our goal was to create a visually pleasing website that conveyed information to members while ensuring that it was user-friendly and informative. We achived these goals through the tool Figma.
To achieve our goal, we had to carefully consider the needs and goals of the users. We conducted in-depth interviews and observed the users to gain a better understanding of their preferences and needs. We also used surveys, cognitive walkthroughs, and heuristic evaluations to gather data and evaluate the design. By using a variety of research methods, we were able to gather a comprehensive understanding of the users' needs.
Methodology
Using Goal-Directed Design as our main method, we were able to create a design that met the needs of the users while also being visually pleasing and user-friendly. We worked in close collaboration with the client to ensure that the design reflected their vision and goals for the website.
Throughout the design process, we iterated on the design and received constructive criticism during criticism sessions. This allowed us to refine the design and ensure that it met the needs of the users. By taking a methodical approach to the design process, we were able to create a website that met the client's needs while also being visually appealing and user-friendly.
Results
The project resulted in a finished prototype that received positive feedback from the client and the users. We were able to create a visually pleasing and user-friendly website that conveyed the necessary information to members. The client was pleased with the final product and expressed their appreciation for our careful attention to their needs and preferences.

Reflection
The project provided me with valuable experience and allowed me to develop my skills in design methodology, research methods, and collaboration. I learned the importance of taking a methodical approach to the design process and not rushing through it. I also learned the importance of seeing the artifact from the client's perspective and not unnecessarily complicating the process.
Overall, the project was rewarding and educational, and I appreciated the constructive criticism and mentoring moments throughout the project. I am confident that the skills I developed during this project will be useful in future projects and collaborations.
Role as Evaluation Specialist
As the evaluation specialist in the group for the Hylte Riding Association project, my responsibilities included performing a heuristic evaluation and cognitive walkthrough to evaluate the interviews with the help of other group members. I was responsible for evaluating the navigation structure and flow of information, and I used a cognitive walkthrough to simulate how a user would navigate and solve problems through the website. I also used the heuristic evaluation method to evaluate the user interface based on ten predetermined principles to find problems in the design before continuing with it. I removed two heuristics, "Help user recognize, diagnose and recover from errors" and "Help and documentation," from the evaluation because they were not applicable to the website's functions.
Through the evaluation process, I gained a clearer understanding of the problems the existing website had and was able to make recommendations for improvement. Working closely with other group members, I was able to use my expertise to contribute to the design process and ensure that the final product met the needs of the users.
Overall, my role as the evaluation specialist played an important part in the success of the project, and I gained valuable experience in using evaluation methods to improve the design process.
